Architectural Designer

The Charleston-based Facilities Group at Weston & Sampson is accepting resumes from candidates for an Architectural Designer position with approximately 3+ years' of relevant experience for their North Charleston office. Work will include architectural design projects for our new and existing clients, supporting the company's architectural, design-build, and engineering discipline groups, and participating in and contributing to the expansion of the Facility Group's growing project base along the east coast.

What You'll Do

• Support our Facilities Architecture team in the planning and design of new and renovated facilities. Work includes conceptual planning through construction document preparation and construction administration.
• Provide architectural support to other Weston & Sampson discipline groups including our CMR (construction) team, landscape architecture, environmental, and other engineering groups.
• Coordinate both internal and external multi-disciplinary team members of the project on delegated tasks with input from the project manager and build strong working relationships throughout.
• Participate in inner-office functions, professional organizations, and technical committees as time and interest allows. Business development and strategic marketing opportunities are available.
• Report to architectural project manager and team leader.

What You Will Bring

• 3+ years of substantial experience as a productive member of a project design team with strong technical and Revit skills. Revit fluency is mandatory.
• Ability to function comfortably, gain trust, confidence, and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals including consultants, contractors, and facilities project team members both internally and externally from W&S.
• Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, or equivalent degree required. Licensed or licensure track preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to understand all phases of project development from schematic design through contract administration.
• Knowledge of architectural detailing, building codes, construction materials, and level of comfort at a construction site preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation skills, and experience leading and participating in client presentations and design review meetings.
