WATG is hiring a Project Designer, Architecture for our office in Tustin. This role requires in-person collaboration, with the option to work remotely only on Friday.

The Project Designer, in Architecture, develops, implements, and creates design concepts and provides design continuity and leadership for one or more projects. The Project Designer coordinates the conceptual design development through all phases, establishing project design direction and vision, assisting with document preparation that supports the design intent, preparing presentations, and coordinating with third parties and agencies. In partnership with the Project Manager and Project Architect, the Project Designer is accountable for the financial performance of the project and team communication.

Creates, develops, and implements project design concepts and documents for one or more projects from the Concept through Design Development phases

Supports the resolution of design solutions during the Construction Documents and Construction Administration phases

Confirms that the design follows the contractual agreement with the client and that the project is on schedule and within budget

Develops solutions to technical and design detail problems following established standards

Develops effective solutions to design problems that meet project goals

Verifies that project needs and design intent are met by effectively managing the efficient utilization of resources

Monitors initial design through completion of construction, and may assist with construction documents

Oversees the design team in ensuring that documentation for all phases conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards

Attends on-site visits and client meetings to verify design requirements and deliver progress reviews

Supports the marketing and business development activities of the office when needed

Fosters a commitment to positive, and productive internal and external client relationships and service

Mentors and develops team members to enhance team performance and contributions

Takes personal responsibility for fostering sustainable work practices, and is committed to incorporating sustainable design solutions into projects

Bachelor's degree in Architecture

Professional license preferred

Environmental accreditation preferred

10+ years of experience designing small to mid-size architectural projects, including urban and resort hotels, mixed-use and renovation projects

Proficiency in software skills, including Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Sketch-Up

Strong proficiency in Revit

Sketching skills required

Experienced in client management and negotiations

Effective project management skills, keeping within established deadlines and budgets

Works successfully in a team environment

Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Travel may be required

Salary range: $90,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
