WATG is hiring a Technical Designer for our office in Atlantic City.

The Technical Designer is part of the design team from the beginning and assists in selecting materials and systems, design resolution of details, specification writing, building code compliance, and quality control review of documents. The Technical Designer supports the preparation of working drawings and construction documents. The position has experience in design development, architectural CAD and drafting, and detailing of small to mid-size projects. The Technical Designer is highly organized and collaborative and contributes to project design and delivery, and client care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides architectural drafting support on all phases of a project
  • Assures efficient preparation of detailed drawings through schematic design and design development to construction document phases on assigned projects
  • Interprets verbal and written directions from project leaders into professionally completed documents or products
  • Understands and applies technical standards to drafting assignments
  • Completes working drawings, design sketches, presentation drawings, shop drawings, diagrams, schedules, and other computer-generated or drafted documents from prepared drawings as required by the project

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent work experience
  • Architectural license preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in small to mid-size architectural projects
  • Proficiency in technical skills, including AutoCAD and Revit
  • Knowledge of architectural detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction documents
  • Sketching skills required
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, as well as excellent organizational skills
