Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you'll do meaningful work with Workmates who've got your back. In return, we'll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you've found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.
About the Team
The AI Services team is part of Workday's AI Platform organization, and we are building the operating tooling that powers Workday's AI and agentic strategy. Think of us not as a collection of isolated services, but as a key supplier in the AI supply chain: we make sure Workday's AI Agents have access to the right data through Information Retrieval and RAG, can perform intelligent actions on Workday data through Recommendations, can operate within an acceptable cost envelope through Modernization, and can be discovered by the teams that need them through our AI Portfolio Registry. We are at an exciting inflection point. The team is shifting from building standalone ML features into providing reusable, platform-grade AI capabilities that teams across Workday can plug into and build on: whether they are building AI agents, traditional UI/UX application experiences, or extending Workday's platform for external developers through Workday Extend. The work is genuinely novel: AI-native rapid prototyping, agent architecture, financial intelligence, precision-at-one recommendation systems, and unbundling retrieval primitives for developer consumption. What makes this team special is a culture of intellectual honesty, real debate, and creative risk-taking. We hold each other to high standards (business cases need evidence, not just enthusiasm) and that rigor builds credibility with engineering and leadership alike. Leadership here is genuinely servant-leader in practice: growing people and growing the product are treated as the same thing, not tradeoffs. If you are energized by ambiguity, drawn to pioneering work, and want to be part of a small, high-conviction team doing things that haven't been done before, this is the place for you.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Manager on the AI Services team, you will be a force multiplier at the intersection of AI product development, growth and adoption, and AI-augmented productivity.
This role requires three distinct strengths working together:
- Deep fluency with AI/ML products and services,
- The ability to operationalize growth practices for an internal platform,
- The habit of using AI tools to dramatically increase your own output and the output of those around you: from rapid prototyping with AI coding agents to accelerating research, analysis, artifact creation, and day-to-day decision-making.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership over your product area. You are empowered to make decisions, move fast, and drive outcomes, and you are expected to. That autonomy comes with accountability: you keep your stakeholders and leadership informed, you surface tradeoffs early, and you treat transparency as a strength, not a constraint. The best PMs on this team operate independently without ever operating in isolation.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Owning the end-to-end product lifecycle for AI/ML services, including discovery, prioritization, roadmap definition, evaluations, and navigating the unique complexities of non-determinism, cost/latency tradeoffs, and API and service-layer design
- Shaping and socializing AI services as reusable capabilities for consumption by AI agent teams, traditional application teams building Workday's UI/UX product layer, and the Workday Extend platform-as-a-service team delivering services and APIs to external developers
- Building and operationalizing the growth engine for AI Services by establishing the tools, tactics, instrumentation, and experimentation practices that drive awareness, activation, and durable adoption across the portfolio. This is not a supporting function: you will be the team's primary practitioner and mentor in growth craft, educating and upleveling your PM peers and cross-functional partners who do not have this specialty today
- Using AI tools to multiply your own productivity and the team's, treating AI coding agents, AI-assisted research, and AI-augmented analysis as core parts of how you work every day. You prototype working demos with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot. You also use AI to accelerate PRDs, data analysis, internal tooling, stakeholder communication, and any task where speed and quality compound. You model this way of working for the broader team
- Partnering closely with engineering to define quality, design structured APIs and service contracts, and act as a catalyst helping application teams modernize their products with innovative AI capabilities
- Contributing to the evolution of the team's operating model, including helping institutionalize AI-assisted rapid prototyping and AI-augmented PM workflows as repeatable, production-connected practices across the broader organization
About You
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of product management experience in a technology environment, with meaningful experience shipping AI/ML-powered products, platform services, developer tools, and leading growth initiatives at a program or product level.
- AI/ML product fluency: You have shipped at least one AI or ML-powered product or service as the accountable PM. You understand the AI product lifecycle (data, evaluations, prompt iteration, model selection, non-determinism, and cost/latency tradeoffs). You are comfortable with service-layer considerations including APIs, service contracts, versioning, and consumer onboarding. You have real stories about where the model or service surprised you and how you navigated it
- AI-augmented productivity and prototyping: You use AI tools as force multipliers across your entire scope of work: not just for prototyping, but for research, data analysis, artifact creation, internal tooling, and everyday PM workflows. You are also fluent with AI coding agents, comfortable in a terminal, and able to build working prototypes and demo-quality artifacts yourself when speed matters. You can point to specific tools you use, specific things you have built or accelerated, and specific outcomes that resulted
Other Qualifications
- Foundational PM excellence: You bring strong written communication, structured discovery, sharp prioritization, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with stakeholders across engineering, design, and leadership. Your artifacts (PRDs, strategy documents, post-mortems) speak for themselves and reflect clear, rigorous thinking
- Growth and adoption leadership: You think in funnels (awareness, activation, adoption, retention) and you have a track record of turning shipped capabilities into real, durable usage. You go beyond familiarity with growth concepts: you operationalize the tooling, instrumentation, and experimentation tactics that make adoption measurable and repeatable. Critically, you are able to mentor and educate teams that do not yet have this muscle, establishing growth as a shared discipline rather than a solo practice. B2B SaaS, developer-product, or internal platform growth experience is especially relevant
- Ownership with transparency: You take full ownership of your product area and make decisions with confidence, without waiting for permission when the path is clear. At the same time, you never conflate autonomy with going dark: you proactively communicate context, tradeoffs, and progress to stakeholders and leadership, and you understand that keeping people informed is what earns and sustains the trust that makes autonomy possible
- Intellectual honesty and constructive directness: You thrive in environments where ideas are debated on their merits. You bring evidence rather than enthusiasm to roadmap decisions, and you are comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback in service of better outcomes
- Collaborative and adaptive: You work effectively across disciplines (engineering, ML, data science, and partner application teams) and you are energized rather than daunted by the pace and ambiguity of building at the frontier of AI
