Provide high quality legal advice and work product to Western Digital's product management, marketing, engineering, and sales teams. This full-time position will report to the Director, Associate General Counsel, Product. This position is based in San Jose, Irvine or remote.
• Review, draft and advise on advertising and marketing materials, including packaging, press releases, product launch collateral, advertising campaigns, sweepstakes, promotions, and other related items
• Advise internal business partners on requirements affecting all stages of a product's life cycle, including design, development, marketing, public relations, product launch and distribution, customer support, warranty, and related product regulatory concerns
• Maintain current understanding of best practices related to legal issues in product development and marketing for technology companies, including strong familiarity with intellectual property and privacy matters
• Prepare, review, and negotiate complex agreements including those for software licensing, software-as-a-service, co-marketing, strategic alliances, marketing technology products, hosted services including AI models, and marketing, engineering, and manufacturing services
• Identify and analyze business and commercial issues connected with legal matters that could impact the business or a corporate function, and identify potential legal issues related to business practices and policies
Required:
• J.D. degree from accredited law school
• Current member of the California Bar in good standing, or California Registered In-house Counsel in good standing
• At least 5-8 years' relevant practice experience, at least 4 of which are as an in-house attorney
• Experience working in house at a technology company highly desired
• Experience supporting software or hardware-based business models
• Familiarity with legal guidance for marketing related claims and/or product liability matters
• Knowledge of product regulatory matters related to hardware or software products
