Senior Design Researcher
Intuit is a global technology platform that helps our customers and communities overcome their most important financial challenges. We help give over 50 million consumers, small businesses, and self-employed customers around the world the opportunity to prosper.
We are looking for a Senior Design Researcher to join Intuit's Design & Market Research organization, owning research strategy across two closely related domains that together define how our customers experience Intuit's value.
The first is Business Intelligence — understanding what financial data and insights small businesses and accounting professionals need to make confident decisions, and ensuring our BI capabilities are genuinely useful and trustworthy for both audiences.
The second is Expert Services — understanding what kinds of expert help our customers want, how they want it delivered, and how Intuit can expand its expert offerings in ways that strengthen our relationships with the accountants and Pro Advisors who are critical partners in our ecosystem.
These two domains are deeply linked. Better BI surfaces the moments where customers recognize they need expert guidance. And understanding what customers want from experts informs what data and intelligence we need to put in their hands. This role sits at that intersection — connecting insight about customer financial literacy with insight about when and how human expertise adds the most value.
Responsibilities: How You Will Lead
Business Intelligence Research
- Customer-Centered BI: Lead generative research to understand how small businesses and accountants find, interpret, and act on financial data — and where our current BI capabilities fall short of their real-world needs.
- Usability & Comprehension: Evaluate how well our dashboards and reporting tools communicate meaning to non-expert users, surfacing opportunities to improve financial decision-making through better design.
- Longitudinal Tracking: Help establish mechanisms to track BI satisfaction and capability perception over time across both small business and accountant segments.
Expert Services Research
- Demand Discovery: Conduct exploratory research to identify which expert services customers most want from Intuit, in what contexts, and at what moments in their financial journey.
- Service Model Research: Explore how customers want to access expert help — on-demand vs. scheduled, human vs. AI-assisted, reactive vs. proactive — to inform service design and go-to-market decisions.
- ProAdvisor Alignment: Investigate how Intuit can expand its expert service offerings in ways that complement the ProAdvisor community, identifying opportunities for partnership and shared value.
Strategic Influence & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Lead and manage research priorities across both domains simultaneously, with clarity on where each stands and what decisions each needs to inform.
- Bring customer and accountant voices into strategic conversations, ensuring product and business decisions are grounded in real-world needs.
- Communicate findings clearly and compellingly to stakeholders at all levels, from product teams to senior leadership.
Craft & Collaboration
- Contribute to best practices within Intuit's centralized research organization, helping raise the bar for how complex, multi-stakeholder research is conducted and shared.
- Mentor junior researchers and cross-functional partners, particularly around navigating nuanced research contexts.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5–7 years of experience in design research, UX research, or a related field
- Proven ability to independently lead research across multiple, parallel workstreams
- Strong mixed-methods skills — comfortable with both in-depth qualitative work and behavioral or quantitative data
- Experience with complex stakeholder dynamics, including research that involves multiple user or customer groups
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to make nuanced findings actionable for product and strategy teams
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to help define research questions, not just answer them
Preferred
- Domain knowledge in financial services, tax, accounting, or small business financial management
- Experience researching professional or expert user communities
- Familiarity with BI or data visualization tools and concepts
- Experience working within a centralized research practice
